Children with Diabetes is an Ohio-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing education and support to families living with type 1 diabetes.
Children with Diabetes focuses on care today, so we are ready for a cure tomorrow. As an advocate and global resource, we provide support, education and inspiration to empower families and all people living with diabetes to enjoy healthy, enriched lives.

For Families that Include an Adult or Child with Type 1 Diabetes Use this application to apply for a Family Scholarship for Friends for Life Orlando 2025. For this scholarship, you must be an adult (26+), couple, or parent living with type 1 diabetes or raising a child with type 1 diabetes.
All Scholarship Opportunities for Friends for Life Orlando:
- Family Scholarship (family has a child with type 1 diabetes)
- Salko-Meredith Family Scholarship (family scholarship)
- Adult Family Scholarship (adults 26+ or parents with type 1 diabetes)
- Young Adult Scholarship (young adults 18-25 with type 1 diabetes)
This Family Scholarship can include:
- One hotel room at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort (accommodating up to four people in the room) for five (5) nights (arrive Tuesday, depart Sunday), and
- Conference registration for up to four (4) people.
Estimated Costs to Attend Friends for Life Orlando 2025
As you consider attending Friends for Life Orlando, we want you to know the estimated costs. These are general costs and will vary by family.
- Conference Registration - $350 per person includes meals (Wednesday snack breaks and evening reception; Thursday breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack breaks; Friday lunch and snack breaks; Sunday breakfast), all sessions, all social events, admission to the Exhibition Hall.
- Hotel - $206 per night Tuesday – Sunday. The hotel sleeps up to four people and is located within walking distance to the conference center, Disney transportation to theme parks, and Disney Springs.
- Transportation costs - If you drive, parking is free,
Before You Begin
Before you begin your application, please gather the following items. You have the option to submit these to support your application.
- Digital copy of your 2025 Federal Tax Return (most commonly Form 1040) We encourage you to have your taxes prepared before submitting your application.Digital copy of your most recent W2 (one for each working parent or adult)
- Please know that we will prioritize first timers that have never attended a Friends for Life Orlando conference before.
CWD is committed to providing support to as many families as possible. As part of the scholarship application, you will be able to tell us what level of support you need to be able to attend Friends for Life Orlando. This scholarship is available to US citizens and legal residents only.
For Young Adults Living with Type 1 Diabetes Use this application to apply for a Young Adult Scholarship for Friends for Life Orlando 2026. This scholarship is for young adults, who will be 18-25 on July 7, 2026, and are living with type 1 diabetes. Included in the Young Adult Scholarships are:
- The Kim Hislop Memorial Scholarship for Young Adults
- CWD Young Adult Scholarships
The 2026 Young Adult Scholarships include:
- One hotel room at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort for five (5) nights (arrive Tuesday, depart Sunday),
- Conference registration for the young adult recipient, and
- Travel expenses for the recipient in accordance with CWD's travel guidelines. Costs for additional people and other expenses are the responsibility of the recipient.
